ZAHA HADID UNVEILS PLANS FOR NEW SKYSCRAPER IN MELBOURNE

Zaha Hadid Architects has collaborated with Plus Architecture to design their first skyscraper in Melbourne. The 54-story mixed use building is designed as a series of “stacked vases” supported by sculptural columns surrounding each volume of the building to create uniform facades on all sides. According to Landream ( local developer behind this investment), the aim is to “embody and emulate the finest examples of historic architecture that can be found within the Melbourne CBD, yet reinterpret them in a contemporary solution that is driven by the building’s structural integrity and the logical division of its overall volume”.
If approved, the proposal will add a mix of retail, commercial and residential programs to its site at 582-606 Collins Street.
