AMAZON’S PRIME AIR DRONE DELIVERS FIRST PACKAGE TO CUSTOMER

In a huge leap forward for logistics, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos confirmed yesterday that his company’s first customer delivery via drone had been completed in the UK. The package — containing a packet of popcorn and an Amazon Fire streaming device — made the short two-mile trip from an Amazon warehouse to the customer’s drop-off address in a journey that lasted 13 minutes and one that could signify the beginning of a new era for e-commerce. Amazon claims that it will now carry out further trials using the service it calls “Prime Air”, which looks set to further assert Amazon’s dominance in the retail sector.
